2005: Make Poverty History

wear a white band
A few interesting online articles today, expressing hope that 2005 will be the year when the world moves closer to achieving the Millennium Development Goals:

30,000 people die every day, just because they are poor. That means the equivalent of an Asian Tsunami disaster every five days.

It is possible to get involved: visit makepovertyhistory.org to find out how…

How annoying. Had typed a load, then demanded email and lost the lot.

As I was saying… It’ll take a while to get used to Gates the philanthropist - much too capitalist, although I know he’s been at it a while - a modern-day Rockefeller? Bono - respect. I’m hoping we can catch U2 live this year.

I’ve been impressed with noises from both UK and US governments over the last few days. Perhaps the US is realising it’s vast potential to put things right rather than wreck the world, gaining both respect from the rest of us, and more of a feeling of belonging on this planet, and less fear as a result.
