My brother Roger and I have been researching the Adams and Thompson family histories for a couple of years. This
page presents some of the interesting stories so far:
- John Adams (1892-1971) was our grandfather.
The subsite at letters.johnadams.org.uk relates his own short account of his service with the 9th Batt. Royal Irish
Fusiliers in the Great War, and allows you to read his letters home through 1916.
- Robert Kerneghen (1841-1913) was a great-great-uncle.
He was a stonemason who
laid the cornerstone for the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield.
An active man into his seventies, read how he died.
- Ulster Covenant (1912) was a document signed by over half a million
people on September 28, 1912, opposing Home Rule for Ireland. Many of our relatives signed the document,
and it allows us to view their signatures.
